About the role#
The Avionics Team manages all spacecraft electronics, including flight computers, batteries, and radios. As an intern, you will own a circuit design from start to finish. You will capture schematics, perform layout, manufacture, and test hardware. This is a full-time, on-site role based in El Segundo, California, running between January and May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design and test custom PCBs for embedded electronics and analog or digital systems.
- Manage end-to-end hardware development, including schematic capture, layout, and testing.
- Support embedded system development using microcontrollers and sensors.
- Develop a current-controlled Thermoelectric Cooler driver for biologics temperature control.
- Contribute to projects such as embedded camera systems or thermocouple loggers.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Entering Junior year or later in your academic program.
- Prior experience designing PCBs.
- Familiarity with microcontroller programming.
- Experience or interest in Python programming.
- Ability to debug hardware prototypes and strong attention to detail.

- Location: El Segundo, California.
- Term: Spring 2027 (January through May).
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: $33.00 per hour, plus a housing stipend and commuter benefits.
- Note: This position requires U.S. person status for export control compliance.
