About the role#
This internship provides exposure to the Portfolio Administration department at VanEck. You will rotate through various teams, including Security and Portfolio Analytics, Fund Services and Operations, Trade Settlement, Reporting and Analytics, Accounting Oversight, and Regulatory Reporting. The program is designed to provide a foundational understanding of an asset management firm through hands-on work and interaction with department leadership.
What you'll do#
- Complete project deliverables during each rotation through the department teams.
- Build a Key Performance Indicator reporting tool.
- Update, standardize, and publish desktop procedures for assigned teams.
- Develop tactical solutions using AI tools like Claude, including documenting use cases and handoff instructions.
- Conduct annual data quality audits, such as vendor and reference data cleanups and Everbridge/BCP contact list updates.
- Assist with month-end reporting, audit packages, and semi-annual financial reporting.
- Review historical Sub TA/Rev share agreements and the vendor log.
- Organize the process for receiving and recording invoices.
- Deliver a final presentation to department leadership and submit documented work products.
What you'll need#
- Currently entering senior level or beyond within a 4-year college program in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a relevant degree.
- Passion for investing and an understanding of financial markets.
- Exposure to asset classes like equity, fixed income, spots, forwards, options, futures, swaps, and cryptocurrency.
- Knowledge of investment products including mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, separately managed accounts, and tokenized products.
- Quantitative and technical orientation, with data analysis experience being a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and exposure to PowerPoint.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude.
- Some experience in a corporate environment is helpful but not required.

- Compensation: Maximum hourly rate of $25.
