About the role#
The IVF Research Intern joins the URUS Group to support active research projects within the R&D pipeline. This role provides practical experience in experimental design, laboratory execution, and data analysis. You will work alongside R&D scientists and laboratory staff to contribute to research in reproductive biology, cell biology, and embryology. This position is a paid, full-time opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute controlled laboratory experiments under established protocols.
- Perform laboratory activities including media preparation, sample handling, aseptic technique, microscopy, and biological assays.
- Collect, organize, and maintain accurate experimental data and laboratory records.
- Apply statistical and graphical methods to summarize results and identify patterns or technical issues.
- Troubleshoot experimental treatments, reagents, and process conditions.
- Review scientific literature to support project hypotheses and experimental methods.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate progress and incorporate feedback from the team.
- Prepare a final technical report and presentation summarizing project objectives, results, and conclusions.
- Follow all requirements for safety, quality, biosecurity, animal welfare, and data integrity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in reproductive biology, animal science, cell biology, embryology, biotechnology, or biology.
- Foundational understanding of reproductive physiology or laboratory-based biological research.
- Prior hands-on laboratory experience from coursework, research, or employment.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and work consistently with biological materials.
- Strong attention to detail regarding laboratory documentation.
- Proficiency in communicating effectively with scientists and cross-functional partners.
- Experience with aseptic technique, microscopy, cell culture, or molecular assays is preferred.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet or statistical software for data analysis is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance on priorities.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship based in Sioux Center, Iowa.
- The position is full-time with a rolling term.
- Candidates must meet the physical and scheduling requirements of a laboratory-based environment.
