About the role#
The Associate Director of Student Financial Services serves as a key member of the management team at the University of New Hampshire. This role focuses on coordinating scheduling, customer service, and communication strategies with both internal and external stakeholders. The position involves direct supervision of customer-facing staff and student workers, as well as the oversight of office websites and digital marketing initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the department customer service team, including staff and student workers, to ensure consistent coverage and service quality.
- Resolve complex financial problems for students, parents, and debtors, including counseling families on financial obligations and managing sensitive situations.
- Coordinate with department staff to prepare new student orientation materials and represent the office at campus events.
- Act in a decision-making capacity regarding exceptions to university policy, including the review of appeals and waiver requests.
- Participate as an active member of the departmental management team to assist in long-term and short-term planning, staffing, and strategic projects.
- Manage the hiring, training, and performance of customer service staff to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and university policies.
- Oversee collection activities on inactive student accounts and maintain relationships with external collection agencies.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree in a related field, such as business administration, finance, economics, psychology, or political science.
- At least five years of experience in financial aid or student accounts administration.
- At least five years of supervisory experience with demonstrated managerial progression.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to higher education.
- Familiarity with online data processing systems and statistical software.
- Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours.
