About the role#
The Psychology Intern position at the University of New Hampshire provides a comprehensive training experience within a university counseling setting. This full-time, paid internship requires a minimum of 400 clinical service hours and focuses on providing culturally competent care to a diverse student population. Interns participate in weekly individual and group supervision, staff case conferences, and specialized seminars focused on assessment, outreach, and consultation.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual counseling to students, typically managing a caseload of 15 clients per week.
- Perform intake assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment disposition for at least 3 hours per week.
- Deliver crisis intervention and emergency coverage for the Counseling Center for a minimum of 4 hours per week.
- Facilitate therapy and support groups, including groups focused on anxiety, assertiveness, and international student needs.
- Conduct learning disability assessments through clinical interviews and testing.
- Engage in outreach and consultation by presenting 6 workshops per semester on topics such as suicide assessment, PTSD, and crisis management.
- Maintain accurate clinical, outreach, and consultation records.
