About the role#
The University of Virginia Human Resources Communications and Marketing team is looking for a student to support various communication initiatives. This position is fully remote and offers an opportunity to build professional skills while working on HR projects. You will report to the Director of HR Communications and receive regular project support from the Senior Communications Specialist.
What you'll do#
- Perform minor edits on HR and FEAP websites, including content updates and meta descriptions using the Drupal CMS.
- Help with the annual benefits Open Enrollment campaign through graphic design, social media development, and data analytics.
- Develop stories about UVA employees for distribution across university channels.
- Take photos at UVA events and around Grounds for use on social media and websites.
- Contribute creative content ideas to engage prospective candidates on social media.
- Assist with the HR Digital Accessibility initiative by pulling reports, tracking improvements, and identifying new opportunities.
- Maintain HR employee lists in Excel.
- Support team members on various HR projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Virginia.
- Eligibility for federal work-study.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Ability to contribute creative content ideas.
- No prior experience is required.
- Interest in fields such as Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, or Human Resources.
Location & details#
- Location: Remote.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 25, 2026, to May 14, 2027, with potential for extension).
- Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Approximately 6-8 hours per week, depending on your class schedule.
