About the role#
The Coordinator, Student-Athlete Services acts as the first point of contact for potential and incoming student-athletes. You will report to the Director of Interuniversity and High Performance Athletics and receive daily direction from the Manager of Interuniversity Sport. This role involves managing admissions enquiries, overseeing the annual Athletic Financial Award cycle, and ensuring compliance with recruitment bylaws.
What you'll do#
- Respond to routine admissions and awards enquiries.
- Coordinate the annual Athletic Financial Award cycle.
- Advise coaches and student-athletes on eligibility, renewal timelines, and compliance obligations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of OUA, U Sports, and University policies, rules, and guidelines.
- Implement process improvements for program activities.
- Provide detailed information regarding financial awards and verify applicant eligibility.
- Ensure applicants meet specific award criteria.
- Coordinate tasks for projects and strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
- Schedule appointments for prospective student-athlete applicants.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Business, or Athletic Administration, or an equivalent combination of experience.
- At least two years of experience working with coaches and student-athletes in an intercollegiate environment.
- At least two years of experience in student-athlete recruiting operations.
- A strong understanding of OUA, U Sports, and University eligibility and recruitment rules.
- Experience building rapport with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- The ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality in high-pressure situations.
