About the role#
The Associate Director of Development for Student and Campus Experience is a senior fundraising position within the Alumni Affairs and Development department. You will secure philanthropic support for programs that drive student success and developmental experiences across the University of Guelph. Reporting to the Director of Major Gift Advancement, this role involves working closely with the Provost and Vice President (Academic) and the Vice Provost (Student Affairs) to connect donor interests with initiatives that support student well-being and campus community growth.
What you'll do#
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors committed to student-focused initiatives.
- Develop and implement a long-term fundraising strategy for Student and Campus Experience programs.
- Build a planned giving pipeline in partnership with the Planned Gift team.
- Manage donor stewardship in collaboration with the Major Gift Stewardship Engagement Manager.
- Support staff in the student wellness portfolio to implement gifts according to donor agreements.
- Lead and motivate team members and volunteers to reach long-term fundraising goals.
What you'll need#
- 6 to 9 years of experience in university or public sector fundraising.
- A proven track record of securing principal and major gifts.
- An undergraduate degree. A CFRE designation is preferred.
- Experience leading and managing personnel with diverse job requirements, including unionized and professional staff.
- Ability to engage senior leadership at a strategic level.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with high-profile individuals.
- Experience with alumni engagement, annual giving, and legacy giving.
- Skills in managing competing project requirements and complex, overlapping processes.
- Ability to think and act effectively under pressure while maintaining discretion and good judgment.
- Background in public relations and communications programs.

- This position is based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
- The role requires a flexible work arrangement, including both remote and on-site work at the Guelph campus.
- This is a full-time, permanent position.
