    About the role#

    The Student Employment Success Specialist provides centralized leadership and coordination for student employment initiatives at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. You will work across campus to create a consistent, accessible, and career-connected student employment experience. This involves supporting hiring departments, improving resources, and promoting effective supervision. You will also administer the federally funded Job Location and Development (JLD) program to develop off-campus employment opportunities for students in the Knoxville area.

    What you'll do#

    • Serve as the centralized resource for campus student employment and build a network of supervisors and departmental contacts.
    • Evaluate the student employment lifecycle to identify barriers and recommend improvements.
    • Develop resources such as a supervisor toolkit and communication plans.
    • Provide training for supervisors on recruitment, onboarding, and inclusive supervision.
    • Support departments in designing meaningful student positions with clear learning outcomes.
    • Conduct outreach to off-campus employers and advise them on recruitment strategies and position development.
    • Manage the JLD budget, maintain compliance documentation, and complete the JLD portion of the annual FISAP report.
    • Track placements, maintain accurate wage data, and produce an annual impact report.
    • Develop dashboards and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.

    What you'll need#

    • A Bachelor’s Degree.
    • At least one year of relevant experience in areas such as recruiting, sales, marketing, business development, relationship management, career services, workforce development, or human resources. Graduate assistantship experience may count toward this requirement.
    • Knowledge of student employment, career development, employer engagement, and program administration.
    • Skills in relationship building, written and verbal communication, project management, and data reporting.
    • Ability to collaborate across departments, manage multiple priorities, and interpret federal compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency in career-services technology, fiscal administration, and program evaluation is preferred.
    • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for sponsorship.

    • This is a full-time, on-site position located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
    • The role is part of the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration.
