About the role#
The University of South Florida is hiring a Student Assistant to support employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives. This part-time role provides an opportunity to learn about employee listening, survey administration, and project coordination within a large university setting. You will gain hands-on experience in data organization and professional workplace communications while working on-site in Tampa.
What you'll do#
- Assist with employee engagement and listening initiatives.
- Support survey administration, including preparing communications and tracking participation.
- Update and maintain engagement resources, toolkits, and website content.
- Coordinate meetings, events, and focus groups.
- Create and format presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and communication materials.
- Compile and maintain engagement-related data and files.
- Monitor shared inboxes and route inquiries to the appropriate team members.
- Conduct basic research on engagement trends and best practices.
- Perform general administrative and office support duties.
What you'll need#
- A current Federal Work Study (FWS) award for 2026-2027.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information.
- A willingness to learn new software and business processes.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Communication, Organizational Development, or Public Administration.
- Prior experience in customer service, administrative support, or student leadership is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Modality: On-site at the CGS or SVC Building.
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, flexible around class schedules between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Requirement: This position is subject to a Level I background check. Applicants must provide proof of their FWS award.
