About the role#
The Student Events Coordinator is an entry-level position focused on building campus community through programming. You will work within a team to handle the logistics and promotion of UASUevents, with a primary focus on New Student Orientation and the Week of Welcome volunteer program. This role reports to the Manager of Programming and involves training in various event roles at the Horowitz Events Centre. Two positions are available, with one focusing on content for Information and Presentation Facilitators and the other on content for Faculty Leaders.
What you'll do#
- Plan, market, and recruit for Students’ Union programming including Week of Welcome, New Student Orientation, and various campus events.
- Manage event logistics, volunteer coordination, and on-site execution.
- Build and maintain partnerships to support event success.
- Create and manage communication campaigns through email, web, and social media.
- Develop and support volunteer programs and teams.
- Manage digital assets and media projects.
- Submit regular project and monthly reports.
- Assist other staff members and perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be a registered undergraduate student at the University of Alberta and a member of the Students’ Union during your employment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional, diplomatic, and respectful communication skills.
- Experience developing educational curriculum and delivering content to students.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suites.
- Preferred: Experience with Mac operating systems and Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
- Preferred: Skills in volunteer, event, or project management.
- Preferred: Knowledge of the Students’ Union and a valid Alberta Driver’s License.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Edmonton, Alberta.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
- The contract runs from October 13, 2026, to September 30, 2027.
- Hours are 25 hours per week from September through April and 37.5 hours per week from May through August.
- You must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
