About the role#
The California Energy Commission is seeking a Clean Energy Policy Fellow to support the Office of Commissioner Gallardo. This role focuses on research and analysis related to geothermal energy development, clean energy siting, energy security, and tribal energy initiatives. You will assist the office by evaluating regulatory processes and creating materials to inform policy decisions.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on geothermal energy and clean energy siting.
- Evaluate federal, state, local, and tribal permitting processes.
- Identify regulatory barriers and opportunities to improve project development efficiency.
- Prepare policy memos, briefing materials, reports, talking points, and presentations.
- Monitor emerging legislation, regulatory proceedings, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with Commission staff, government agencies, tribal representatives, and community stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution on the University Enterprises, Inc. affiliation list.
- Minimum enrollment of six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates.
- Minimum 2.0 GPA or above.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Majors in Political Science, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, or closely related fields.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote. You must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited role.
- Work schedules are flexible between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday, typically up to 24 hours per week during the academic year.
