About the role#
The University Athletic Association is hiring an Operations Intern to support the planning and management of home athletic events. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gainesville, Florida. The position involves a non-standard schedule that includes early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and potential overnight travel. This is a time-limited position with the possibility of a second year.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and management of home athletic events.
- Monitor parking lots and staff during game days.
- Ensure equipment is in working order for both game day and non-game day events.
- Track weather conditions for athletic events.
- Conduct facility maintenance inspections.
- Assist with security, event set-up, and event tear-down.
- Perform day-to-day facility management tasks.
- Regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or currently pursuing one.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Preference is given to those with experience in athletics operations or facility management.
- Preference is given to those with an interest in or enrollment in graduate school.

- Compensation: Paid hourly at the current Florida minimum wage.
