About the role#
We are looking for a Technical Writer Intern to help standardize operational documentation at our manufacturing facility. You will work alongside teams in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS to improve safety compliance and process documentation. This role provides hands-on experience in an industrial environment while you assist in creating essential safety and procedural records.
What you'll do#
- Develop, revise, and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and manufacturing activities.
- Create and update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for various routine and non-routine tasks.
- Assist in the development and improvement of Safe Work Permit documentation, including permits for hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, line breaks, excavation, and working at heights.
- Interview operators, technicians, engineers, and supervisors to document work processes accurately.
- Observe field activities to ensure procedures match actual work practices.
- Format documents according to company standards and document control requirements.
- Photograph equipment and processes for use in technical documentation.
- Maintain document revision history, version control, and electronic file organization.
- Participate in safety meetings and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Occupational Safety, Manufacturing Technology, English, or Professional Writing.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work comfortably in both office and industrial plant environments.
- Attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple projects to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety concepts and experience with flowcharts or process maps is a plus.

- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The role follows a rolling term.
