About the role#
This is a year-round, paid internship based at the Dakota City beef complex. You will work directly with the plant accounting team to support financial operations at a large-scale facility. This role is designed to provide exposure to cattle procurement accounting, payroll, and yield analysis. It serves as a bridge into full-time plant accounting or controller roles within the company.
What you'll do#
- Support cattle procurement accounting by processing and reconciling daily cattle payments and settlements.
- Assist with plant payroll tasks including data entry, validation, and reconciliation for hourly and salaried staff.
- Help translate daily yield data into plant financial performance metrics.
- Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reporting and KPI packages for plant leadership.
- Collaborate with the live cattle, operations, and HR teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in financial, payroll, and reporting data.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior, senior, or graduate student with at least one semester remaining in your program.
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn plant operations.
- Availability to work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and full-time during summer and school breaks.
