About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term in Cleveland, Ohio. This is an on-site, full-time, paid position. You will assist with loss control and safety activities across construction projects and office locations.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. program and other project safety initiatives.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices, focusing on hazards to life or property.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning, and tool box meetings.
- Facilitate training during safety meetings and worker orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Promote safe work practices and conditions.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and chemical inventories.
- Assist with research and preconstruction meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field, with at least one year of completed education.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- A desire to learn about construction management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to follow directions.
- Personal accountability for tasks and actions.
- Demonstration of interpersonal skills through leadership or community involvement.

- Requirements: Access to reliable transportation is required. Limited travel may be necessary. You must be flexible to work standard business hours and overtime as assigned.
