About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Summer 2027 internship based in Nashville. You will join a structured program designed to apply your academic studies to real-world construction business operations. You will build foundational knowledge in operational finance, including project finance concepts, accounting fundamentals, and financial systems. The role involves working on-site at a construction project or within an office supporting multiple projects.
What you'll do#
- Support daily financial management across accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliation.
- Apply construction accounting principles, including earnings and revenue recognition.
- Review billing details against client contracts and validate project cost coding.
- Assist the Shared Services Organization with invoice processing and monitor project cash flow.
- Analyze budgets, reallocate costs through journal entries, and support month-end close processes.
- Contribute to data collection, reporting, and analysis efforts for operational performance metrics.
- Gain exposure to AI and data tools to improve financial workflows and reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management reviews.
- Follow company policies regarding financial reporting, data governance, and confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least one year of coursework completed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and willing to work a standard work week.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and apply AI tools.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills through campus or community involvement.
