About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Finance Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This program provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios within the construction industry. You will build foundational knowledge in operational finance, including project finance concepts and financial systems. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Albany, New York.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured intern program and coordinate with supervisors to prioritize work and meet project deliverables.
- Support day-to-day financial management activities across accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and operational performance metrics.
- Review billing details, invoices, and contracts against client requirements.
- Validate project cost coding and assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries.
- Monitor project cash flow, support under and overbilling analysis, and verify subcontractor or vendor account statuses.
- Gain exposure to data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to improve financial workflows and reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management.
- Share progress updates and engage in regular feedback conversations to support your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2- or 4-year accredited degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Willingness to work a standard 40-hour work week.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication abilities.
- Ability to take direction, ask questions, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Interest in learning how finance supports construction projects and business operations.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn how to apply AI tools to financial processes.
