About the role#
This internship offers a structured program designed to apply your academic knowledge to real-world business scenarios. You will build foundational knowledge in operational finance, including training on accounting fundamentals, project finance concepts, and financial systems. You may be assigned to a single construction project site or an office location supporting multiple projects.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day financial management activities, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Reconciliation, and Special Services.
- Contribute to data collection, reporting, and analysis while assisting with process improvements related to budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and operational performance metrics.
- Review billing details against client contractual requirements and verify invoice backup for accurate accounts receivable.
- Assist with validating the coding of project costs and supporting the Shared Services Organization with invoice processing tasks.
- Verify the status of subcontractor and vendor accounts, monitor project cash flow, and support under and overbilling analysis.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations to support financial reviews.
- Gain exposure to data analytics techniques and Artificial Intelligence tools to improve financial workflows and reporting processes.
- Share periodic progress updates with your supervisor and engage in feedback to support your professional growth.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2- or 4-year college or university with an accredited degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically with intermediate Excel skills, and familiarity with collaboration tools like Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills developed through leadership, campus involvement, or community activities.
- Ability to take direction, actively listen, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to work on a construction site.
- Willingness to work a standard work week.
