About the role#
This internship offers a structured program where you will apply your academic background to real-world business scenarios. You will build foundational knowledge in operational finance, including accounting fundamentals, project finance concepts, and financial systems. Interns may work at a construction job site or in an office location supporting multiple projects.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day financial management activities across accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliation.
- Contribute to data collection, reporting, and analysis efforts.
- Assist with process improvements related to budgeting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and operational performance metrics.
- Review billing details against client contractual requirements for accuracy.
- Validate coding of project costs and compare invoices to project cost structures.
- Support the Shared Services Organization with invoice processing tasks.
- Assist with monitoring project cash flow, including billings, collections, and payments.
- Prepare journal entries to assist with budget analysis and the month-end close process.
- Gain exposure to data analytics and AI-enabled tools to support financial reporting and process efficiency.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for management reviews.
- Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 2- or 4-year degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of completed coursework or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn how to apply AI tools to financial processes.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to work at a construction site.
- Access to reliable transportation.
