About the role#
We are looking for a student to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. Modules for the ATLAS Inner Tracker have shown elevated noise after assembly. This issue may stem from high voltage ramping speeds, current stability, or surface damage. You will perform a dedicated investigation to understand and solve these performance challenges.
What you'll do#
- Investigate the root causes of high noise on tracker modules.
- Assemble dedicated test pieces for experimental study.
- Conduct quality control, stress testing, and material testing.
- Analyze data from previous modules using Python and C++.
- Present your findings at local and international meetings.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a student in physics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
- Programming experience in C++ and Python is an asset.
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment is an asset.
- Background in precision assembly, visual inspection, or general quality control is beneficial.

- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- The term runs from January 4, 2027, to April 30, 2027.
