Lab Operations and Safety Intern

About the role#

As a Lab Operations and Safety Intern, you will help improve how medtech labs are run and documented. This role focuses on the intersection of lab operations, safety, and documentation, providing a cross-functional view of how a multidisciplinary research and development company operates. You will receive mentorship and support from our Lab Operations and EHS leads throughout the summer.

What you'll do#

• Draft and propose revisions to LabOps policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for review by the EHS lead.
• Review and maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library and Chemical Hygiene Plan documentation, identifying gaps for resolution.
• Research and recommend lab best practices by benchmarking against industry and regulatory standards.
• Evaluate how documentation maps to day-to-day practice and recommend ways to keep them aligned.
• Synthesize research and findings into clear, prioritized recommendations for the team.
• Utilize company-approved AI tools to assist in research and drafting, ensuring all safety-related output is verified against authoritative sources.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in chemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health and safety, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• Strong writing and documentation skills with high attention to detail.
• A safety-first mindset and a curiosity about laboratory operations.
• Ability to use AI tools effectively while maintaining the judgment to verify all outputs.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.

Location & details#

• Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
• Term: Summer 2026 (12 weeks, July to August/September).
• Modality: On-site, with a requirement to work in the office at least 3 days per week.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship with an hourly range of $18.00 to $20.00.
• Employment type: Full-time.
