About the role#
The Biomedical Engineering Intern gains hands-on experience by shadowing clinical, lab, and radiology engineers. You will work under the supervision of management to learn the daily operations of a hospital environment. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
What you'll do#
- Shadow experienced engineers to understand their daily workflow and hospital operations.
- Learn to manage service calls, balance your workload, and document repairs and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Train on electrical safety, equipment calibration, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures and inventory validation.
- Work directly alongside experienced technicians in a real-time service environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate degree, technical degree, or an equivalent biomedical certification program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver's license, as the role may require travel to different sites.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screen.
- Previous experience with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering setting is preferred.
