About the role#
Tri-County Human Services is looking for interns to support the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of clients. You will work as part of a treatment team under the direction of a licensed program manager or coordinator. This role is intended for students currently enrolled in a college or university program looking to gain practical experience in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Participate in social, recreational, and occupational rehabilitation activities for clients in recovery.
- Develop and lead class materials for social rehabilitation and basic living skills training.
- Facilitate group counseling sessions and lead class discussions.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to discuss client treatment, progress, and participation.
- Assist with case management duties, including maintaining accurate case records.
- Help clients navigate referrals for substance abuse and mental health services.
- Support the development of referral sources like transitional or halfway housing.
- Teach alcohol and drug education classes.
- Serve on committees and assist with special program activities.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A general understanding of mental health and substance abuse treatment.
- Knowledge of supportive services and addiction treatment programs.
- Participation in a staff training program.
- Preferably one year of full-time experience in a mental health or addiction treatment setting, though a two-year degree in Human Services may be substituted for this experience.
- Enrollment in a degree program related to Psychology, Sociology, or Human Resources.

- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
