About the role#
The Trend Micro Research Center in Toronto is seeking a Vulnerability Research Intern to join the research team. This position supports a global customer base including security product vendors, software manufacturers, and enterprise clients through technical data feeds and research products.
What you'll do#
- Research newly discovered security vulnerabilities across a wide range of software products.
- Produce reports describing software vulnerabilities and the detection of attack vectors.
- Develop signatures for network traffic-based attack detection.
- Monitor security industry publications, news groups, and online sources for emerging threats.
- Collaborate with other researchers on analysis and report production.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in two or more programming languages, including C/C++, Java, Assembly, or various scripting and functional languages.
- Knowledge of operating system concepts, computer organization, the OSI reference model, and TCP/IP protocols.
- Familiarity with *NIX operating systems and command line interfaces.
- A demonstrated desire to learn through personal projects or self-directed study.

- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
