About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program (BI UPDP) Internship is a 10-week summer program designed for students interested in a career in commercial insurance underwriting. This role offers an introduction to how we evaluate risk and price insurance products. It serves as a potential pathway to our full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program.
What you'll do#
- Complete training modules focused on insurance and underwriting principles.
- Work on projects assigned by your manager, which may include territorial risk assessments or business process analysis.
- Present your project findings to local leadership.
- Use modern analytical and AI tools while applying critical thinking to evaluate the quality and accuracy of AI-assisted outputs.
- Attend self-paced professional development courses covering time management and presentation skills.
- Explore other corporate functions, including Risk Control and Claims.
- Join agency visits with Account Executives.
- Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience, including networking events, executive speaker series, and the Rising Senior Intern Symposium.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, or Risk Management and Insurance.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located in Melville, New York.
- The program runs for 10 weeks, from early June to mid-August 2027.
- This position is on-site.
- We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
