About the role#
This is a full-time summer internship based on our trade floor in Calgary. You will work directly with our front-line trading and marketing group to gain experience in North American power and natural gas markets. This position runs for four months starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with analytical and modeling tasks to support trading, analytics, and marketing teams.
- Support trading and risk projects by completing ad hoc analysis and building simple business cases.
- Prepare presentation materials that are clear and easy to understand.
- Work with large data sets to identify trends, spot opportunities, and share insights with the trade floor.
- Collaborate with analysts and traders to learn about energy markets, customers, and team strategies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, or computer science.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or power flow modelling software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive approach and a commitment to learning.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
