About the role#
Trane Technologies is hiring an HVAC Product Development Technician Intern for our Engineering Test Laboratory in La Crosse, Wisconsin. This role focuses on testing new product development, sustainability, and quality improvement projects. You will work alongside engineers and senior technicians to qualify commercial HVAC equipment. This is a paid, hourly position with flexible hours designed to accommodate your school schedule.
What you'll do#
- Maintain a safe work area and follow all safety policies.
- Operate commercial HVAC equipment and manage test facilities to collect experimental data.
- Assist with the build, installation, and modification of developmental equipment.
- Set up laboratory test equipment, including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, and flow, pressure, and temperature measurement devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair Trane commercial HVAC technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate Degree program in HVAC or a 2-year equivalent at an accredited school.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- EPA Type Universal Certification or a willingness to obtain it.
- A basic understanding of refrigeration thermodynamics, mechanical troubleshooting, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and technical reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with measuring and inspection instruments.
- Experience with Visual Basic programming is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- Work schedule: This position is on-site Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
- Hours: We prefer 15-20 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Compensation: $22 per hour.
