About the role#
The Town of Caledon offers a co-op placement for high school students interested in animal services and business administration. This program helps you meet graduation requirements while gaining hands-on work experience. You will work on-site in a role that balances animal care with administrative support.
What you'll do#
- Perform general housekeeping, including laundry, cleaning, and disinfecting kennels, enclosures, cages, and office areas.
- Exercise and socialize animals in our care.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any immediate concerns to your supervisor.
- Help process adoptions and redemptions while ensuring animals are properly identified with tags.
- Assist administrative staff with data entry, filing, answering phones, and monitoring the general inbox.
- Support records management and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Help with special events, including logistics, promotion, and on-site support.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training programs.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an accredited secondary institution.
- Active enrollment in a co-op credit course.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suites and Teams.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a sensitive environment.
- Your own form of transportation.
Location & details#
- Location: Bolton, Ontario.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Physical requirements: You should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks involving bending or twisting. The role involves exposure to animals, noise, odors, and inclement weather.
- Work environment: You may encounter stressful, emotionally charged situations or conflict.
