About the role#
As a Research Intern on the Model Shaping team, you will focus on tailoring open foundation models for specific applications. You will work on advanced post-training methods, including supervised learning, preference optimization, and reinforcement learning. The team also develops new systems for efficient neural network training and builds frameworks for evaluating foundation model capabilities.
What you'll do#
- Research and implement new techniques in model shaping and efficient training.
- Design and run experiments to test your hypotheses.
- Write up your findings for scientific publications and blog posts.
- Integrate your research results directly into Together products.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning.
- Experience with frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.
- Familiarity with the Transformer architecture and recent foundation model developments.
- It is helpful if you have prior research experience in training foundation models, publications at major ML conferences, knowledge of model optimization, or contributions to open-source projects.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.

- This role is based on-site in San Francisco, California.
