About the role#
TKDA is seeking a Structural Drafter or Technician Intern for the summer of 2027. You will join our Facilities Engineering team in Bloomington to gain hands-on experience with real projects for education, government, industrial, and mining facilities. This role is a full-time, paid internship that runs from May 25 through August 13. You will work alongside engineers and architects to learn how structural design functions within a professional project workflow.
What you'll do#
- Assist with preparing detailed drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Support the creation of base files, redline updates, and coordinated plan sets.
- Participate in multi-discipline coordination to see how structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical components interact.
- Gain exposure to structural system layout, modeling workflows, and project delivery processes.
- Engage with team members and contribute to project discussions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two-year Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or related associates program.
- Introductory experience with AutoCAD or Revit through coursework or prior training.
- A basic understanding of building systems, construction methods, or reading construction drawings.
- Strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn in a collaborative setting.
- Exposure to Bluebeam Revu or similar markup tools is a plus.
- Coursework or project work related to structural drafting or building design.
- Interest in structural systems for education, government, or industrial facilities.

- Location: Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Modality: Primarily on-site with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
- Commitment: 40 hours per week.
