About the role#
We are looking for a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on infrastructure projects across the Northeast alongside industry experts. This role is based in our Shelton or Middletown offices and offers a hybrid work environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of roadways and intersections, including traffic control and signage.
- Help prepare technical specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.
- Participate in field visits and construction observations.
- Use design tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to support plan development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor program for Civil Engineering or a related degree.
- At least 2 years of completed college coursework.
- Coursework or experience in roadway design, traffic studies, or related engineering topics.
- A strong interest in transportation engineering and solving technical problems.
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
- A positive, flexible, and open-minded attitude.
- Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Synchro is preferred.
- Previous internship experience in engineering design, consulting, or construction observation is a plus.

- Compensation: $21.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on completed years of college education.
