About the role#
As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will join the Transportation Business Line in Westfield, Massachusetts. You will work alongside industry experts on infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast. This is a paid, full-time internship for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of roadways and intersections, including traffic control and signage.
- Help prepare technical specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates.
- Participate in construction observations and field visits.
- Use design tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to support plan development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of completed college-level coursework.
- Coursework or experience in roadway design, traffic studies, or related areas.
- A strong interest in transportation engineering and traffic analysis.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems.
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, or other 3D modeling tools is preferred.
- Previous internship experience in engineering design, consulting, or construction observation is a plus.

- Compensation: $21.00 to $29.00 per hour, based on completed years of college education.
