About the role#
As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will join our Transportation Business Line to work on infrastructure projects across the Northeast. You will collaborate with our team to design roads, intersections, and multimodal systems. This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 position. We operate in a hybrid work environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in roadway and intersection design, including traffic control and signage.
- Help prepare construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Participate in field visits and construction observations.
- Use design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to support plan development.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of completed college-level coursework.
- Coursework or experience related to roadway design or traffic studies.
- A strong interest in transportation engineering and traffic analysis.
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, or other 3D modeling tools.
- Preferred: Previous internship experience in engineering design, construction observation, or consulting.

- Locations: Shelton, CT or Middletown, CT.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Compensation: $21.00 to $29.00 per hour, based on completed years of education.
