About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to work on a range of projects focused on the fabrication and assembly of Tigercat products. You will develop custom tooling, fixturing, and material handling devices using CAD software to improve the safety and quality of equipment. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement custom tooling and material handling devices.
- Create heavy duty, welded steel fabrications.
- Manage detail drawings and maintain bills of material.
- Coordinate design changes with manufacturing teams.
- Support lean practices including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and visual controls.
- Manage the outsourcing of PSRs on manufacturing equipment.
- Calibrate, validate, and maintain tools and testing equipment while certifying lifting devices.
- Gather and analyze feedback from shop employees to evaluate project results.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree program or a Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist diploma.
- Preference is given to 3rd and 4th year students.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling in SolidWorks.
- A comprehensive understanding of drawings, geometric dimensioning, and tolerance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive approach to technical tasks and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Location & details#
- Locations: Cambridge, Ontario and Brantford, Ontario.
- Modality: On-site only.
- Compensation: $26 to $29 per hour, based on your year of study, plus 6% vacation pay.
