About the role#
The Washington Post is seeking college juniors, seniors, and graduate students for our newsroom summer internship program. You will work alongside award-winning journalists and take on responsibilities similar to our staff members. This is a full-time, paid position based at our headquarters in Washington, D.C.
What you'll do#
- Report and write articles for breaking news and pursue longer-term enterprise stories.
- Edit copy, take photographs, and shoot or edit video.
- Create graphics and produce audio content.
- Design across multiple platforms.
- Develop audience strategy and conduct data analyses.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom to produce multi-format storytelling.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student in a degree program.
- Ability to demonstrate conventional coverage of news events.
- A commitment to accuracy, clarity, and journalistic rigor.
- A resume, an autobiographical essay of 500 words or fewer, and no more than three clips.
- Majors in Journalism, Communications, English, or Media Studies are relevant to this work.

- This internship takes place in Washington, D.C. at our headquarters.
- The program runs during the summer of 2027.
- This is a full-time, on-site, and paid position.
