About the role#
This internship places you within the early stages of the Walt Disney Imagineering process. You will work alongside designers and team leaders to build illusions, special effects, and prototypical animated robotic figures. This role involves hands-on fabrication and assembly of mechanical and electrical systems for theme park attractions.
What you'll do#
- Support the design and fabrication of special effects and robotic figures.
- Produce quick mockups and iterate on designs.
- Research standard parts, materials, and catalog items.
- Assist with technical publications and project work plans.
- Participate in installation and integration tasks.
- Contribute to team brainstorming and problem solving sessions.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher in a degree program such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Design.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, wire and troubleshoot assemblies, and perform basic repairs using diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of 3D printing technologies, software for 3D modeling, and plastic materials.
- Basic carpentry skills and an interest in continued learning.
- Ability to manage time across multiple projects.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Practical experience in mechanical fabrication, assembly, fiberglass, or silicone work is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with unrestricted work authorization.
- Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
