About the role#
The Leadership Fellow Program is a two-year rotational program at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. It is designed for students completing a graduate degree between December 2026 and June 2027. Fellows rotate through four business functions, including staff departments, line departments, finance, and facility operations. Each rotation lasts approximately six months. This program provides exposure to the agency's structure and strategic goals while preparing participants for future leadership roles. Fellows are full-time employees and receive a salary and benefits package.
What you'll do#
- Support or lead short-term and long-term projects within each rotation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions and track progress.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support strategic initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with managers, mentors, and peers.
- Deliver presentations and updates to leadership throughout the program.
- Lead at least one project from inception to implementation.
- Identify operational challenges and contribute ideas for improvement.
What you'll need#
- You must be receiving a graduate degree between December 2026 and June 2027.
- One year of work experience in public service, transportation, government, or a related area.
- A strong interest in public transportation and a passion for public service.
- Openness to rotating through different business functions, including areas outside of your specific background.
- Preferred fields of study include Public Health, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site (with a maximum of one remote day per week).
- Compensation: $81,640 to $86,580 per year.
- Start Date: Beginning of July 2027.
