About the role#
The Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve (ABRP) Land Conservation Intern joins the Florida Chapter to support stewardship and field programs. This is a full-time, 8-month temporary position based in Bristol, Florida. You will spend the majority of your time on land management tasks, with additional focus on public outreach and education. You will also develop and present an independent project by the end of your term.
What you'll do#
- Maintain preserve areas and facilities, including trail upkeep and fence repairs.
- Participate in sandhill ecosystem restoration, such as tree planting, erosion control, and invasive species removal.
- Assist the wildland fire team with prescribed burns, fire preparation, and equipment operation.
- Use computers and mobile devices to document work and maintain preserve records.
- Engage with the public through outreach events and educational opportunities.
- Operate equipment including 4-WD trucks, ATVs, UTVs, tractors, and various hand tools.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate vehicles safely.
- Ability to perform physical fieldwork in challenging weather conditions and remote environments.
- Experience using a PC and mobile devices.
- Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
