About the role#
The Minnesota Star Tribune offers a 10-week summer reporting internship based at our headquarters in Minneapolis. This is a full-time, paid position for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students. You will work from our office to gain experience in a major-market newsroom. The internship runs from early June to early August.
What you'll do#
- Develop your own story ideas and handle assigned reporting tasks.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and other reporters to produce substantive news.
- Cover breaking news events.
- Write enterprise stories.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage deadline pressure.
- Proficiency with web research and social media tools.
- Familiarity with InCopy or similar publishing software.
- Experience working with data and building digital visualizations.
- A valid driver's license.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Compensation: $21.25 per hour ($850 per week).
