About the role#
The Mennel Milling Company offers engineering internships focused on food manufacturing operations. You will work alongside engineers, technicians, and operations teams to support plant projects. This is a paid, full-time position that provides hands-on experience in both office and manufacturing settings. We offer flexible scheduling, including rolling start dates and availability for Summer 2027 and Summer 2028.
What you'll do#
- Support capital projects from concept development through installation, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Collect and analyze operational data to find process improvements and increase efficiency.
- Create and update equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance teams, contractors, vendors, and plant personnel.
- Participate in equipment inspections, field measurements, installation oversight, and start-up activities.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and operational excellence.
What you'll need#
- Rising junior or senior status in a Bachelor's program for Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn data into practical solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Experience with CAD or other technical software is a plus.
- Prior manufacturing experience is preferred.
