About the role#
The Estimating Intern position offers an opportunity to learn construction means and methods while gaining hands-on experience in estimate preparation. This is a full-time, paid internship based in San Rafael, California. You will work on-site and occasionally travel to visit job sites or attend meetings.
What you'll do#
- Prepare documents for distribution to the estimating team.
- Read and interpret contract plans and specifications.
- Perform quantity take-offs.
- Contact potential vendors and subcontractors.
- Use HCSS HeavyBid to assist in preparing estimates.
- Use Primavera P6 scheduling software to prepare basic project schedules.
- Assist with proposal preparation and submissions.
- Attend pre-bid site visits and deliver bid submissions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an upper division student at a four-year college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various forms of instructions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
