About the role#
The Field Safety Advisor Intern supports our team in managing hazard risks within heavy civil marine construction. This is a practical, learning-based experience where you will work alongside safety professionals to understand worksite safety practices. You will assist with day-to-day safety program activities, including scheduling, planning, and implementing corrective actions. This role involves both office work and frequent site visits to inspect projects.
What you'll do#
- Inspect facilities and mobile equipment to detect accident and health hazards.
- Assist the Safety Manager with coordinating and implementing safety program training and testing.
- Analyze industrial accident causes and health hazards.
- Support local safety representatives with field Hazardous Materials Audits.
- Help project managers with field Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA), safety plans, and the procurement of safety equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an upper division student at a four-year college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Health, or an Occupational Safety and Health program.
- Progress toward a Certified Safety Professional Certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
- Proficiency in Excel.
