About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee for a full-time internship during Summer 2027. This role is based on-site in Mokena, Illinois. You will work as part of a tree crew, learning to perform pruning and removal services while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Trim and remove trees, including unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs.
- Perform tree pruning, thinning, and deadwood removal throughout the canopy.
- Assist in the removal of hazardous trees.
- Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Identify tree species and follow industry pruning guidelines.
- Maintain, prepare, and operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
What you'll need#
- A love of the outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
- Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
- Preferred relevant pesticide or related licenses and certificates.
