About the role#
This is a field-based internship for students interested in the green industry. You will work alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and technicians to maintain the health and beauty of trees and landscapes. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term. You will gain exposure to daily operations, business management, and client service fundamentals.
What you'll do#
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and general maintenance.
- Assist with tree and landscape installation.
- Operate field equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
- Conduct plant health care tasks such as deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest management.
- Learn about the business side of residential tree care, including sales and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license. A commercial driver’s license is a plus.
- A genuine interest in proper plant care and working outdoors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well with others.
Location & details#
- Locations: Fraziers Bottom, WV and Charleston, WV.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
