About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the green industry. You will work in the field alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians. The program runs during the Spring and Summer of 2027 and is a full-time position. You will gain exposure to the daily operations and business functions that support a professional tree care office.
What you'll do#
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, and bracing.
- Assist with tree and landscape installation.
- Operate field equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
- Manage plant health through deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest management.
- Support client service, sales, and management functions.
- Work toward completing career development booklets for climbers and plant health care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver's license (a commercial driver's license is a plus).
- A genuine interest in plant care and the outdoors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Akron, Ohio.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.
- Compensation: $22 - $23 per hour.
- Provided: All climbing gear, uniforms, and personal protective equipment.
