About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee for a full-time, paid internship in Lombard, Illinois. This is an on-site, permanent role that involves working outdoors as part of a tree crew. You will receive training on climbing, tree care, and equipment operation.
What you'll do#
- Learn to climb trees and work as a member of a tree crew.
- Perform tree pruning and removal services according to industry guidelines.
- Identify tree species and prune, thin, or remove deadwood from the canopy.
- Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist with the removal of hazardous trees.
- Maintain, prepare, and operate tools including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
What you'll need#
- A love for working outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses upon hire.
- Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or experience working at heights is preferred.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses and certificates are preferred.

- Compensation: $20 to $23 per hour.
