About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Omaha, Nebraska. It is designed for students who want hands-on field experience in tree care and plant health.
What you'll do#
You will work as a member of a tree crew and learn to perform tree pruning and removal services. Your daily tasks include:
- Identifying trees and following industry pruning guidelines.
- Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood from the tree canopy.
- Installing cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assisting in the removal of hazardous trees.
- Maintaining, preparing, and operating tools and equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
What you'll need#
- A love for working outdoors.
- A background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or experience working at heights.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses if required by state law.
