About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee Intern for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position based in Broomfield, Colorado. It is designed for college students looking to gain hands-on field experience in tree care and plant health.
What you'll do#
- Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
- Perform tree pruning and removal services according to industry guidelines.
- Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from tree canopies.
- Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist with the removal of hazardous trees.
- Maintain, prepare, and operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Learn tree identification techniques.
What you'll need#
- A love for working outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.
- A background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses and certificates are preferred.
