About the role#
This internship provides BYU-Hawaii students with hands-on experience in the Meetinghouse Facilities Department. You will apply academic principles to professional facilities management while working under the guidance of a Facility Manager or Regional Facility Manager. The program focuses on facility operations, assessments, capital projects, and long-term asset planning.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day facility operations and maintenance activities.
- Participate in facility inspections, assessments, and site visits to evaluate conditions.
- Assist with capital project planning, coordination, and documentation.
- Gain exposure to lifecycle planning and asset management processes.
- Complete assigned coursework, including the IFMA Essentials of Facility Management program.
- Participate in informational interviews, Q&A sessions, and professional development workshops.
- Build professional relationships with local and global facilities management teams.
- Maintain documentation of your activities and learning experiences.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at BYU-Hawaii as a Construction and Facilities Management major.
- Completion of at least 9 credits in the Construction and Facilities Management program and 60 total credits.
- Ability to work full-time from April 26, 2027, to August 27, 2027 (must be available for at least 14 weeks).
- No enrollment in academic courses during the internship period.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and initiative.
- Ability to work effectively under supervision while meeting deadlines and paying attention to detail.
- Membership in the Church and worthiness to hold a temple recommend.
